When even the institutional children's show "Sesame Street" is ridiculed, there is something fdefinitely wrong in the world.
The latest incident revolves around an encore airing of a parody done by the furry green resident grouch and trash can dweller named Oscar and his Grouch News Network (GNN). After the newscast a disgruntled fan calls to complain about the news not being grouchy enough. The caller goes on to say that in future they will be watching Pox News adding, "now there's a trashy news show!"
Previously in an effort to teach children about eating healthier, resident cookie eating fiend Cookie Monster had fruits and vegetables added into his diet of cookies and sweets.
Detractors of the show also tried to insinuate that best buddies and house mates Bert and Ernie were homosexual because they were frequently seen together and shared a home.
Next week the popular children's television show will celebrate it's fortieth season with an episode featuring First Lady Michelle ObamaMichelle Obama teaching the furry residents about growing a vegetable garden, something the First Lady has done at the White House.
In the past "Sesame Street" has taught children about the first day at school, dealing with death and morning (the death of Mr. Hooper), featured guests and muppets with disabilities, and has taught millions of children how to count and learn the alphabet.
The target audience of the popular show that features muppet and human characters is pre-school aged children under five, can any of these naysayers honestly believe that the average three or four year old will equate a skit featuring Oscar the Grouch as a news reporter with the news channels watched by their parents? I wonder if any of these same detractors were ever outraged when "Saturday Night Live" made fun of someone in a cruel manner?
