Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic dunks against the Phoenix Suns

Two games into a tough Eastern Conference road trip, the Phoenix Suns lose by 22 in Orlando to the Magic. Coming off an impressive fourth quarter rally over the Miami Heat the following evening, and with very limited sleep on their side, the Suns earn their first regular season loss against a very tough Magic team - all be it minus Vince Carter, who sat out with a sprained left ankle. Amare Stoudemire did what he could to keep things competitive with a strong 25 points matching that of "Superman" Dwight Howard; "STAT"- Stoudemire also racked up a game high 14 rebounds. But without a yet defined inside defensive presence, the Suns gave up 54 points in the paint and are unfortunately doomed to worse as they go on to visit the Celtics. Newly acquired Center and local to Phoenix, Channing Frye seems more comfortable launching up endless three-pointers then he does working the low block or swapping elbows with the formidable Dwight Howard. As will soon become evident, in purple and gold, it's just as easy to DIE via the perimeter as it is to Live by it, last night being evidence of the later- as a Team Phoenix shot a pathetic 31% from the arc.

Hopefully, with young Taylor Griffin getting a few minutes and the return of Lopez the Suns will be able to transition back into their high-paced comfort zone. Which at the time is hard to do when your big men have to play 30 plus minutes a night and two of your starters combine for 72 years of age- even if one of them is a two-time MVP. There was a silver lining to last nights obliteration in Orlando though, the very impressive performance showcased from the bench - Jared Dudley dropped 17 pts in 23 mins and Dragic gave a welcomed support with 15 pts and 6 assists- taking the place of the still injured Leandro Barbosa- However the Suns had to be regretting yet another horrible trade when former player Matt Barnes, now with the Magic, dropped 13 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists in a very confident 32 minutes of play. When are teams such as this going to learn that strong veteran benches win Titles, and in the non-relenting Western Conference the Suns are going to need to make some serious free agency acquisitions if they don't want another early vacation come this Summer.
