For those that label Paranormal Activity as the scariest movie ever may want to rethink that title. Is it the acting? I presume not. The acting skills of Micah Sloat and Katie Featherston was no more than superb acting. By this it is meant that you believe from beginning to end, they are the couple they portray. You see a couple who has been together for years and are taking the next step in their relationship. Katie's fear of the unknown is genuine and very convincing. Micah is the undoubted knight in shining armor trying to protect his girlfriend from whatever it is which is threatening her.
However I found the film to be lacking in its ability to live up to its "scary" reputation. Some scenes such as Katie staring at Micah sleeping is quite creepy but not enough to prevent me from sleeping. While the intent was a wonderous foundation, the imagery is lacking. Episodes of the syfy series Ghost Hunters and the travel channel's Ghost Adventures are much scarier than this film especially considering most of the occurances could be debunked by Ghost Hunters. If you are interested in watching the "scariest movie ever" I suggest you save your $10 for rentals. It is not worth the trip to the movie theater and believe Katie and Micah will only have their 15 minutes of fame.
