The McLaren F1 - The fastest production car ever built - with a top speed of 240 mph, gets from 0 to 60 in 3.2 seconds using a custom built 6.1 Liter (6064cc) 60 degree V-12 engine with 550 bhp...

Built by Gordon Murray & McLaren Automotive, there were a total of 106 made from 1992 to 1998 - at the time the price was 970,000 USD and now they go for more than twice that price (and they're expected to continue to appreciate...)

While most high performance sports cars have one seat, the F1 comes with 3, the driver sits in the center seat with a passenger on each side (set about 10 inches back). Built using carbon fibre, titanium, gold, magnesium and kevlar it's also made lighter than most sports cars...

Designed to be "the ultimate road car" each car came with full cabin air conditioning (rare in this kind of car) as well as a Kenwood 10 disc cd player and specially designed luggage (including a golf bag...)

The car won the 24 hour Lemans race in 1995 and although there are cars that go faster - this is the fastest "normally aspirated" production car...
