Job Elimination

400 days ago my job was eliminated from 3M. 3M continues to eliminate US Citizens from their roles at the company, and sending much of the work to India. Their reported counts, of people being eliminated are false. Those that are forced (choice is to leave with nothing or retire early, thus forced!) into retirement are not considered eliminated but a RIF (reduction in force).

I have learned time after time, that employees from 3M are not desirable. They are stereotyped as being lazy, unable to work across functional or departmental boundaries, and their skills are out of date, due to lack of proper education.

With every employee 3M displaces, it is costing our country far more and it is costing their business, as well (and many other businesses too). Our government has no incentives/stimulus for businesses to employ and keep US Citizens. Instead they choose to stimulate unemployment and keeping us in poverty. I’d like to see the stimulus paid to a company willing to hire me. For every quarter the company has kept me employed, the government should pay them the same amount I was being paid while I was on unemployment. They should continue this for 5 quarters, at which time, the company should be able to sustain the employee (preferably me!) on their own. If not, there is 5 quarters of ‘proof of employment’ and I could start unemployment again. Along with this, money will be going into the federal funded programs instead of the current state of creating a hole.

This type of program would also weed out those that are not willing to hold a job or have business and/or social challenges which need to be tended to. These individuals that cannot maintain a job for 5 quarters can be sent through a curriculum to help them maintain a job, in a field suited for them.
