A bonfire of $1.5 million currency notes
When one has more than sufficient money and exhausts all possible avenues of spending them, he might really burn the notes as a drug Lord is reported to have done. He was in hiding and his daughter was with hm. To keep her warm, he lit a bonfire with wads of US currency of $1.5 million in one night. The man is Pablo Escobar, the cocaine baron of Colombia who was worth 18 billion pounds sterling in 1989 and was listed as the 7th richest man in the world at the time by the US magazine Forbes. The revelations have been made by Pablo’s son to a British tabloid. Pablo was, later, killed in a gun battle in 1993 by the Colombian police. It seems he was a peculiar mix of a philanthropist as well as a murderer.
