This year will mark the 67th Anual Santa's Train expedition. This is an event where hundreds of volunteers work together for the gift of giving. The train will be loaded with 15 tons of food, clothes and toys.
On Saturday November 21, 2009 the train will begin its route through the Apalachia starting around 7:30am. As the group make their way through the mountains, they make several stops to give food and gifts to the families. They are working hard to fill the boxes and package them up to hand out.
Country singer Wynona Judd will be among the elf's riding along with Santa this year. What better way to get in the Christmas spirit than offering your time to give to others in need.
The last stop will be around 3:00pm. An itenerary can be found of the many websites set up for this traditional gift giving day.
The old saying, "it is better to give than receive," has taken on a whole new meaning with this charity. They have gone above and beyond to help as many people as humanly possible.
With any luck more people will take on this spirit of giving to be sure one and all have a great holiday season.
