The 16-year old girl of Alberta was kidnapped on 26th February 2009 by a man who posed as a police officer of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. She had gone to a store and he followed her home. There, in the backyard, he accosted her and, on the pretext of being a police officer, made her get into his vehicle. He kept her confined in his house for 46 hours and sexually assaulted her – but, she did not give in. She tried to make the man see reason so that he did not murder her. He offered her beer but she did not take it and, all the while, she continued to leave her fingerprints all over the house. She also left strands of her hair so that, in case the worst happened and he killed and hid her body, the police would be able to find enough evidence to arrest and put him away. Finally, the man decided to set her free and left her in an isolated place from where she contacted her parents.
