A new study of parents has found what many parents already know - that having kids is one of the most important things in their lives.

Moreover, the level of satisfaction with their lives goes up with every child they have. This is especially true of women.

However, the results are not true for couples who are not married - only those who are, so unmarried couples may not find the same satisfaction. In fact, the opposite seems to be true. Single, separated, or cohabiting people report more negative experiences in association with having kids.

Experts speculate that marriage may represent a frame of mind that is suitable for raising children for many people, while those in other stages of their lives may not have the same point of view.

Readers, what do you think? Does marriage and parenthood = happiness?

That is an interesting finding. I know our kids enhance my husband's and myself's lives.

i have heard of many couples who are miserable being marriage and their kids as well as divorced people who say that marriage is not what it is cracked up to be. they probably wouldn't do it again because it was a nightmare the first time.
i am single and not interested in anyone. so from my findings, i am taking my time. i don't want to marry the wrong person and be miserable.
