During the first 9 months of 2009 the number of reported crimes in Armenia as compared to the same period in 2008 increased by 57% due to the deletion of the harmful practice of hiding from the account of a number of crimes.

According to him, thanks to the activities undertaken by the police in the country managed to maintain a stable social order and control the operational situation. In January-September 2009 noted 10719 crimes, while last year the number was 6825.
During the first 9 months of 2009 marked 185 the most serious crimes (2008-142), 3926 serious crimes (2008 - 2852), 61 murders, 17 attempts and 138 cases of willful infliction of grievous bodily harm (in 2008, respectively, 62, 23 and 168).
During the same period marked 318 cases of illicit trafficking in firearms and ammunition, which is 77,7% more than in 2008. Police seized 971 firearms (in 2008 - 272). In the fight against illegal circulation of drugs observed 819 crimes, which is 406 more than last year. It seized 28kg 490 g of drugs. Revealed 12 cases of trafficking.
And an increase in the number of economic crimes-652 against 313 in January-September 2008. It identified 398 corruption crimes, 242 of which-the police forces.
During the first 9 months of this year detected 1,332 individuals who were wanted by police, 30 of whom were charged with murder, 1 - of rape, 19 - in the robbery, 9 - in the robbery, 67 - for stealing, 96 - for fraud, 40 - for hooliganism , 30 - in the intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm.
Number of accidents in January-September 2009 amounted to 1409, in which 232 people died, 1965 - wounded. By discipline brought 673 police officers, 33 of which were dismissed.
Colonel Shirinyan noted that the detection of criminal offenses in January - September 2009 compared to the same period in 2008 rose by 9% to 77.8% by the Criminal Investigation Department - by 5,3% (73,7%), for especially serious crimes - by 14,5% (67,3%) and the Serious Crimes Unit - by 1,5% (64,8%).
