What a horrible start of the week Syracuse is having. First, the star wide receiver, Mike Williams, who was being considered for this year's NCAA football's All-American team, quit the football team for personal reasons. How have the mighty have fallen. The Syracuse football has great legends such as Jim Brown, Ernie Davis, Don McPherson, Marvin Harrison, and Donovan McNabb. Now, the Orangemen are the doormat of the Big East Conference.
But, it got even worse after last night. The basketball team played in its first exhibition game last night. Syracuse is ranked #25 because they have two returning starters and an all-Big 12 player that transferred in to give Syracuse a solid nucleus for the legendary coach Jim Boeheim to work with. Usually, in exhibition games, big-time basketball teams will pick smaller colleges to rout. Syracuse did not have to look far as they chose Division II college LeMoyne, which is also in Syracuse, NY, as their opponent. However, LeMoyne pulled the upset by winning the preseason game 82-79. The tradition of the Syracuse sports teams is now in a free-falling abyss.
