Today I'm gonna review a throwback movie, since Hollywood is over populated with big budget flops, I've decided to talk about an unknown independent flop called I'm through with white girls (The inevitable undoing of Jay Brooks). This film stars some unknowns of film like Anthony Montgomery, Lia Johnson, Lamman Rucker, and Kellee Stewart. This film is a black romantic comedy and it stars Montgomery as Jay Brooks, an anti brother who likes rock music, dates white chicks, and creates graphic novels. He cannot find any luck with his relationships because he continues to date white girls. Trying to discover himself he goes out on a mission to find that perfect sista, what he finds is Catherine, a half black half Canadian girl who writes novels, talks like a valley girl, and is into retro things.
Now usually when I see independent films I get happy and start to imagine one day myself creating one of my own, but this film although it was entertaining, and funny at times, was also poorly scripted and heavily cliched. The actors seemed at times as if they were just chilling out on set and talking like every normal day. And at times they seemed a bit confused that this was actually gonna be a film seen by people at all. Hollywood, if this is and was what you allowed to be made, when will I get my chance.
