18% of all greenhouse gasses come from the growth and production of meat products. PETA really wants you to know this, but PETA really, really wants you to know that Al Gore- one of the leading environmentalists- eats meat.
Today, Glenn Beck did a segment on Gore and his hypocrisy, pointing out the former Vice President’s outrageous usage of electricity, his consumption of meat products and his presumably large bank account. All of which are very valid arguments. Indeed, one of the world’s leading environmentalists is causing more harm to our atmosphere than the average person does, but wouldn’t any rational thinking person realize that even though Gore may not be perfect, it shouldn’t change the fact that he’s right?
We SHOULD be cutting down on CO2 emissions.
We SHOULD be using energy saving light bulbs.
And yeah, maybe we should be eating less meat.
Beck actually said that if Gore gave up meat and his over usage of electricity, he would consider following suit, and would back down from his claim that global warming is a myth. Really? Is it only true if Al Gore does it? If I started living my life like a perfect environmentalist, would that get Beck to change, too?
Why are conservatives so focused on Gore’s personal life? They’re completely missing the point. He’s done more work for the cutback of greenhouse gasses than maybe anybody else on Earth. I think if he eats a few steaks along the way, I’ll get over it.
Glenn went as far as having Ingrid Newkirk, founder and President of PETA on the program. Possibly because she is the only one that agrees with him. They’re interview went something like this:
Beck: “GOLLY! I actually agree with you on something! (This is where his face goes super pudgy and funny looking).
Newkirk: “Indubitably.”
Beck: “Al Gore is a liar!”
Newkirk: “Indubitably.”
Beck makes another stupid face and then its all over. I wonder if that’s what sex is like with him. I feel sorry for his wife.
But the point is, maybe Beck and Newkirk should be a little more understanding. Why wouldn’t PETA want to work with Gore, instead of against him?
I don’t know anymore. I’ve got to stop watching Glenn Beck.
…Then again, it is my favorite sitcom.
