Job recruiters all over the country are fighting a "new" problem - although there are tens of thousands of good paying jobs available, people just aren't "qualified" for those jobs (such as nursing and engineering positions...)
Apparently over the last 25-30 years a lot of people decided they didn't want to go through the "hassle" of college or figured they didn't want (or need) a "high paying" job.
Now what's ended up happening is that when a job opens up that doesn't require "specialized" training - there are literally THOUSANDS of applicants applying for every one of those jobs...
For the people who DO have the training (and/or experience) there are all kinds of incentives such as "hiring bonuses" that can be as much as $10,000... There are a lot of nursing positions that have been vacant for 6-9 months where the companies are even offering bonuses to their employees who can "find" them QUALIFIED applicants...
Obviously, the "answer" is to go and get the training (which in some cases employers are even willing to contract and pay prospective employees to do...) The only problem is - it takes "time" to get the training required - and we live in a "want it now" world...
If you're in school and are NOT thinking about going to college or attending specialized training that will qualify you for a decent paying job - do yourself a BIG favor and THINK AGAIN...
The days of just being able to go out and "find a job" are over and done with - for every one of "those" jobs that opens up, there will be at least a thousand people applying for it...
There are lots of homeless people out there - and there will soon be a whole lot more - don't let yourself become one of them...
