It seems like the conquest for nuclear weapons is at an all time high for countries around the globe. Just as it seems like the United States and rest of the civilized world makes a giant step of progress with Pakistan another country jumps into the limelight. The country that has stepped back into mainstream news is not one we are unfamiliar with. In fact, it’s an all too familiar nemesis……Kim Jong-il and North Korea.

It seemed too good to be true that North Korea was keeping a low profile, however maybe this was because they were too busy reprocessing thousands of spent fuel rods, which are used to hold plutonium and power nuclear reactors. North Korea is stock piling some 8,000 of these rods to bring back up their nuclear factories. Why the naive soul asks? Well, to produce nuclear weapons and officially put North Korea on the same platform with the likes of the United States, Russia, China, France and Great Britain of course.

North Korea’s government claims that their sole purpose on this Earth is the security and sovereignty of its people, however the world powers can see right through this smoke screen of BS and lies. If Kim Jong-iI and North Korea can produce a nuclear weapon or at least make the rest of the world believe they are close; it gives this neglected nation extreme bargaining power on the economic and military fronts. Despite this persistence in nuclear development, North Korea publically announced Monday that they would like to hold direct talks with the United States and hammer out their differences in a peaceful manner! What I would give to be a fly on the wall during that meeting!

i dont understand the insanity that is power hungry leaders.

Insane? Maybe not, but highly irrational. All they can see is the short-term benefits if any by developing such technologies. They do not see the bigger picture, and they are selfish is all that I can really say. People tend to act in their own self-interest, and it is really sad that they may not care about the possibility of hurting innocent bystanders. History repeats itself, just with different players and more devastating weapons. Hopefully, the peace talks will be successful.

I don't know why it is that people keep ignoring Korea. It is obvious that they have evil intentions! I mean come on what do you think when someone's eyes are always slanted!

Kim Jhong Il must be a very sick man to be going on the way he is because
his brain cancer is killing him and he is not in full possession of his faculties anymore. 4/11/2009.

It would be interesting to see what the North Koreans have to say to the Americans and what sort of deals they have been planning. There's an article in Asia Chronicle about why North Korea shouldn't be ignored. Worth a read I think. http://www.asiachroniclenews.com/default.asp?sourceid=&smenu=88&twindow=Default&mad=No&sdetail=417&wpage=1&skeyword=&sidate=&ccat=&ccatm=&restate=&restatus=&reoption=&retype=&repmin=&repmax=&rebed=&rebath=&subname=&pform=&sc=2970&hn=asiachroniclenews&he=.com

Kim Jong Il is an idiot. Nobody wants to fight North Korea; the country has zero resources that any other country would want.
