RSPCA Pet of the week - Mandela

THEY say that the dalmatian is among the most loyal of dog breeds.

Imagine then what Mandela, a stunning 8-year-old went through when his owner suddenly passed away.

When he arrived at the RSPCA this affectionate and incredibly intelligent dog pined for several days as staff battled with his depression.

It is only because of the intensive care that the RSPCA has afforded Mandela that he has recovered from his grief.

But make no mistake, Mandela is not for the faint-hearted.

Mandela doesn’t appear to have had much, if any, training and as a result he’s in need of some, particularly on the lead. This is compounded by the fact that Mandela is also deaf which means his new owners would need to learn hand commands along with his basic training program.

Mandela is a lovely dog who needs a special owner with lots of patience and the willingness to really understand how to deal with a pet who cannot hear and has never been shown how to behave properly.
