HERE comes the bride, the bride, the bride, the bride, the bride, the bride, the bride . . .

Born-again brides just kept arriving at Mosmans Restaurant on Friday night for the ultimate girls' night out after winning a radio competition to dust off their gowns and be part of Perth's biggest wedding party.

The 92.9 competition winners were more excitable than the front row of a Wiggles concert at wearing their dresses for a second time.

From a $7000 gown to a slinky white number bought for 99 cents on eBay, the brides bedazzled the dancefloor at the waterfront eatery (formerly Meads).

"Some dresses were beautiful and some were shocking,'' said Erica Cole, accompanied by her husband of three years, Mark.

``You could see love handles outside some dresses with the brides trying to squeeze themselves into them. But everyone loved being a bride again - without the stress of a wedding.''

The event evolved after 92.9 announcer Emelia Rusciano lamented on air that she wished she could wear her wedding dress one more time.

"It's not like you can put it on and go to the shops or pick up the kids from school in it,'' she said.

Sympathetic listeners rang the station in droves.

Among the crowd was a bride who had lost 44kg since her wedding day 10 years ago, pulling in her puffy skirt with paper clips. Another bride who's had a lot of dental work since her big day felt happier to give the cameras a sparkling smile - sans toothy gaps.

The event was the most unusual so far for the host venue's new owners.

British entrepreneur Brent Pollard bought Mosmans and Black Tom's bar and restaurant in West Perth after Warren Mead's businesses went into receivership.

``It was an amazing evening, especially seeing all the brides arrive on a summer's night with the sunset as a backdrop,'' he said.
