CNN...Is it even news anymore?

Monday morning and CNN is doing a live interview of Lance Armstrong. They discuss his career and his intentions in life. Everything is perfectly normal. Then they ask a question on the minds of many Americans. "Do you support the Public Option?". Lance replies, "I don't know about the reform specifically but I believe Health Care needs Reform." What did CNN get out of this? Lance Armstrong supports Barack Obama and the Public Option. And that is what they posted on their ticker.

They didn't mention the fact that in subsequent questions they thought that he didn't support the public option. All they cared about was what they wanted to hear, which they baited him into saying. I feel truly bad for Lance as he looked completely perplexed about a subject he was clearly uncomfortable with.

So what happened to reporting factual news? When did they start going with hearsay, opinion and sensationalism?

As an Iraq War veteran, I have to say that CNN is a disgusting mix of lies and sensationalism made to show the worst facets of life and politics. From 2007-2008 while I was in Iraq I can honestly say I saw and heard about almost no action. Can I be specific? No. But what I can say is that during that period of time if you watched CNN we had a major battle everyday. Militants were hitting us left and right. All we did over there was kill or be killed.

Now lets look at the flip side. From my unit alone we had 11 personnel teaching basic skills such as carpentry, plumbing, and auto mechanics to Iraqi citizens. We had countless projects where we were working with the Iraqi people to better their way of life or pour money back into their economy. And were we dealing with just one group? I know that my team was dealing in a one on one level with the Shiites, the supposedly all militant arm of the Iraqi populace. Has anybody seen any of this stuff reported on CNN, the supposed world news leader?

I would like to say this is an article that everybody should read, but at this point is just a complaint. And it is the tip of the iceberg. Everybody knows that they have been caught making up news in the past. Everybody knows that they don't make any impartial judgements anymore. They stand for who gives them the money and what will make them the money and that is it.

Please, for the sake of real journalism do some research and find out what is really happening.
