Health officials are confirming that children under the age of 9 will require two doses of the H1N1 vaccine in order to be fully protected.

Following recent studies of the vaccine, the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases is recommending that children receive 2 doses, approximately 4 weeks apart. The reason why is that children showed a less robust immune response to the first vaccine dose, thereby necessitating a second one.

Studies also show that pregnant women benefit from the vaccine and showed no serious side effects. So far, 28 pregnant women have died from the swine flu.

An approximate 30 million doses of the vaccine have been delivered to the U.S. and will be sent out to the states

That is not going to make children happy. It is hard enough to get one around here.

The CDC looks bad because they should have had a handle on this H1N1 vaccine before it was even released publically.

It's not just the CDC, it's the hype surrounding H1N1, too. I'm not so sure the so-called "solution" (rushing an H1N1 vaccine to market and insisting it is safe and thoroughly tested) is even necessary. I think it says something about faith in the vaccine that only 50 percent of New York State health workers were going to get vaccinated before the heavy-handed mandate that all health care workers get vaccinated. Why, for example, do vaginal spermicide (Octoxinol 9)or antifreeze (Ethylene glycol) need to be in flu vaccinations?

These are the kinds of questions the media should be asking.
