The USS New York vessel has arrived in New York City. The $1 billion ship contains about 7.5 tons of World Trade Center steel. It was built in Louisiana. The Navy assault ship received a 21-gun salute near the site of the September 11 attack Monday morning.
After the gound zero stop, the ship will sail up the Hudson River to the George Washington Bridge. It will then turn around and head south to Manhattan's Pier 88. The official commissioning ceremony will be held on Saturday.
