Canada Card World - The Blog: Who to Collect - Jason Demers

Similar to the 2008-09 NHL rookie crop, this season is very deep in terms of defensemen. Jason Demers of the San Jose Sharks is another skilled blue-liner who is making an impact this NHL season. No stranger to offense, Demers led the QMJHL in defensemen scoring in 2007-08 with 9 goals and 64 points in 67 games.

After a successful rookie season in the AHL with Worchester, Demers made the Sharks line-up for the 2009-10 season with a solid pre-season. The team's decision to keep him in the NHL has appeared to be an extremely wise one as Demers has had a phenomenal October with 10 assists in 15 games to rank tied for 3rd in NHL rookie scoring. Demers has been keeping up at both ends of the ice with an impressive +/- rating of +7 to go along with his offensive output. Maybe the addition of Demers and Heatley are what the Sharks need to finally put it together in the play-offs.

Jason Demers will appear as a Young Gun (#215) in this season's Upper Deck Series One which will be available this season at Canada Card World

For the Sharks to be considered Stanley Cup contenders they will need Demers and other defensemen to be on their game! Defense has always been a weakness of the Sharks!

Is he Jacques Demers' son? If he is, then he will be able to handle the NHL with no problem. Send me back a message with the answer.
