Bomb attack near military headquarters in Rawalpindi

At least 20 people were killed in a bombing near the military headquarters in Rawalpindi, with army and defence ministry personnel believed to be among the victims.

The blast at a smile shopping centre may have targeted army officers drawing theur salaries out from the bank branch on the ground floor of the building.

Witnesses said that the bodies of the dead and injured were laying across the car park and road in front of the shopping centre, with wonem and children among them.

pools of blood and the twisted metals remained of vehicles could be seen after the bodies were removed by ambolunce. Some 30 were woundered.

"It was a huge blast. Smoke is rising from the scene,"Nasir Naqvi, who runs a travel agence near the site of blast.
