Railway minister Mamata Banerjee must decide her priority soon. Right now, she is paying more attention to locking horns with the West Bengal government rather than concentrate on the proper functioning of the railways. If she feels West Bengal is more important to her, then she should resign from the post of the Railway Minister. Yesterday, a passenger train rammed into a truck laden with sand at an unmanned level crossing and 11 passengers were killed – the force of the impact blew up the truck into smithereens. Only a few days earlier, a express train collided with a stationary one because it was on the same track – that left some more dead. And then, the hijack of the Rajdhani Express by so-called Maoists was another incident that showed up the Indian Railways in poor light. It seems in the case of the train hijack, the Railway Protection Force guards, who are supposed to accompany all long distance trains, were not there!!
