What happening?

Above .500 for the first time since Week One, the Chargers would have their first winning streak of the season if they could beat the Raiders a 13th straight time. The victories would have come against two of the league's worst teams, but it would set the Chargers up well going to face the Giants the following week and give them reason to believe since they do have a history of rebounding after slow starts. The Chargers have been improving each week (save for the debacle in Pittsburgh on Oct. 4) and winning makes everything seem better.

The Chargers always believe they can come back, having done so often under Norv TurnerNorv Turner. But they especially believe they can do so against the Raiders. Their games have not always been blowouts. In fact, the Chargers have had to stage fourth-quarter comebacks in two of the past three. With the Chargers ascending and the Raiders floundering, and with this game in San Diego, the Chargers don't have to come back this time.
