Girl in a Minnie Mouse costume watches the annual Jackson Heights ...

When I was a kid we thought about our costumes for weeks before Halloween. We did not want a store bought costume. We wanted to create an amazing masterpiece that would scare or delight our fellow trick or treaters. This year I handed out candy to children that wore football jerseys and claimed this to be a costume. What a joke. Our children have lost their creativity. Lazy parents are to blame they would rather go to Wal-mart and buy a generic costume then show their children how to be creative. What a sad state of affairs. I wanted to write this to encourage a come back for next year. Bring Halloween back. Decorate your houses, hand out candy, and help your children make a creative costume. Thanks for letting me vent. If you feel the same way spread the word. We can make Halloween better next year.

Definitely, the children of today's society are slowly losing the creativity that was kept a light in the good old days. We need to fix this!

I totally agree.I think football costume is nothing to do with the Halloween unless his a football player zombie.Lol It's true that now a days the old tradition is fading away.I think the parents are also getting lazy with it.

I also noticed a lack of creativity and a lack of enthusiasm this year. It probably has a lot to do with the bad economy and high unemployment. However, you can't expect every kid to go all out with it. A football jersey may not be all that creative, but maybe that's what the kid wanted to be. As long as they're having fun, it's all good.
