For some families, Halloween is a tricky holiday (pun intended). Trick-or-treating is a lot of fun, and sure, a few treats are okay. But what do you do if you don't want your kids to have a candy free-for-all? Well, here are a few ideas:
*Let your kids make a trade. Allow them to pick one or two pieces of candy they want to keep, and then tell them that they can trade the rest of the candy for something else. For instance, a new toy or books, a fun activity with Mom and/or Dad, or maybe a playdate with a friend. Use your imagination!
* Freeze the candy and use it for your holiday gingerbread house.

* Use some of the candy for other treats, like making M&M cookies or Snickers brownies. Involve your children in the baking!
* Set the candy aside and allow your kids to choose one piece a day or use it as a reward for good behavior.
