The CDC is announcing that 19 more children died from the H1N1 virus, or swine flu, this week. This brings the total number of pediatric deaths to 114. Experts expect the number to continue to rise as the total number of H1N1 cases increases throughout the country.

48 states are reporting widespread flu activity at this time. The only two states that are not are Hawaii and South Carolina.

Due in part to this troubling statistic, the government decided to release the last of the liquid Tamiflu that the government has in stock. Treatment for approximately 234,000 children has been released to try to help as physicians and families try to deal with the illness. Additional supplies of the drug have been requested and are expected to arrive early next year.

It's sad news. I can't imagine what the families suffering these losses are going through. Hopefully the number starts decreasing soon. In the meantime, everyone should continue to protect themselves and stay cautious.
