Malaysia Launches Innovation Wave

Malaysia has launched "Innovation Wave" to sweep the Southeast Asian nation to advanced nation status by 2020.

Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak yesterday(Oct.29,2009) announced the novel scheme to set up new National Innovation Center and several innovation centers of excellence nationwide to ignite chain reaction of future Malaysian innovations.

Najid chaired Malaysia's National Innovation Council at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur that decided on the special scheme to propel Malaysia fast forward.

Beginning next year,Malaysia's Quality Day will be renamed Innovation Day.

Among the main focus will be stress on nanotechnology.

"Nanotechnology is an advanced field.It is very important that Malaysia does not lag behind in this area," stressed Najid.

"We have made the decision that nanotechnology should be given emphasis," he added.
