Many Minority groups Think Public Option Will Mean “Free” HealthCare

Obama Stash

Not only do the majority of Latinos, Blacks, Asians, Gays & Poor Whites think that the “Public Option” being considered as part of anyone of 4 Healthcare Bills being offered means they are getting another free entitlement much like food stamps or Medicaid, they may be thinking that the government will also give them free money to pay their Mortgages, utility bills and car loans.

This is how uninformed and out of touch many of these groups are. They actually think that they will be getting something for free. Why work when you can get it for free?

Here is an exchange between 2 of 35,000 applicants in line for a share of $15.2 million of federal stimulus money to help people avoid foreclosure or quickly rebound from homelessness or any other financial setback, and a local reporter covering the event in Detroit.

Reporter: Why are you here?

Woman #1: To get some money.

Reporter: What kind of money?

Woman #1: Obama money.

Reporter: Where's it coming from?

Woman #1: Obama.

Reporter: And where did Obama get it?

Woman #1: I don't know, his stash. I don't know. (laughter) I don't know where he got it from, but he givin' it to us, to help us.

Woman #2: And we love him.

Woman #1: We love him. That's why we voted for him!

Women: (chanting) Obama! Obama! Obama! (laughing)

65,000 people showed up at this Detroit location for a chance to be one of only 3,500 applicants to get a share of this money. This scenario which is being played out across many local communities and Social Service centers across the country, has many lining up for a chance at some of this stimulus cash.

This is exactly the type of individual that Obama uses to sell his claim that the wealthy in this country has basically stolen everything they had. For the most part these people are gullible, uninformed, & sadly, just plain dumb. Obama has instilled in these people that had it not been for the wealthy and rich in this country, they’d all be living a well to do middle class lifestyle.

The fact of the matter is that the idea of a good work ethic to achieve success, has been replaced by the welfare state. It was once considered embarrassing to stand in line at your local unemployment office and dare claim benefits. These days, people have made it a right of passage to milk the system and in the process have lost their will to work and the inspiration to get ahead in life.

The great expansion of government entitlement programs has aided in this state of dependency. A state of dependency that is being created on purpose by our government to keep these very same people on their voting rolls. So it is no wonder that while a lot of us are trying to comprehend or find a copy of the latest 1990 page Healthcare Bill to read, many others are simply waiting for their free Healthcare checks. They may not know where it’s coming from or who will pay for it, they just know it’s free. Who knows, maybe there is an Obama stash somewhere.

i think a lot of people are getting hoping in their life and their work. the system as well as corrupt business has messed up them, and they just don't care for work and feel disillusioned or discouraged. they probably have lived a hard life, and someone need instill hope in them so that they don't give up and depend on the government for everything.

    fifi,

This is where the government steps in and makes it look like they are the good guy and the Rich, Wealthy, Big Corporations, the insurance industry, Wall Street are all the bad guys. They make you dependent on government handouts and entitlements in return for your vote.

All these people need are jobs. Jobs are the antidote to a lot of the problems people face today. If this President were to cut taxes across the board, you would see companies begin to hire again. A lot of companies will not hire because of all the pending legislation and direction that this administration is taking this country. These are dark days for a lot of people. This President has done everything possible to keep it this way.

America needs a single - payer - Government - run, health care plan, because the needs of the many, outweigh the GREED of the few.
Only South Africa and the US do not have National Health Care. Hello?

    Hey Red,
I heard one guy they interviewed who was waiting for his free money, but he complained because he was having to stand in line. He said it wasn't right, they would make them stand here like this.

Based on past experiences working with these folks,(I work at a food shelter the first saturday each month) If they would've had 65,000 jobs to fill maybe a 1000 of them would have been filled.
Most of these folks don't want work or anything they have to physically do. Just money or food stamps. It's a secret, that's been out for a while. U.S.Government doesn't require anything, just come and get it.

Yea Jerry, do you really think these folks red wrote about could careless about a stinking SINGLE PAYER system. You can't make people take insurance. In fact you can't make them brush their teeth, much less pay a fine for not having insurance.

i just heard another bank is having problems, and might not last. all businesses going downhill, whether banks, corporations, etc. lots of mergers and bankruptcies. i think the future will depend on independent businesses, and they will get very competitive for customers.

    A80,

Who did I offend? The opening remark is exactly what many people are thinking. I have spoken to many people, especially Latinos, poor family's and Asians about the issue of the Public Option and they all to a man think this means they are going to get free medical care. I have long suspected this was the case. A lot of people are either surprised or cannot believe that they will have to pay for this new Healthcare Bill and that it is not free.

Sometimes in order to get someone's attention you have to tell it like it is. It was not meant to be offevsive, the intent was to bring to light what I feel is an intentional misrepresentation of what is going on not only with the Public Option & healthcare but with government subsidies in general.
    Thanks for the down arrow...

Many minority groups have been misinformed about the public option. Everyone would have to buy health insurance or they will be fined. That is the public option; either way your wallet will weigh less if this healthcare bill is passed. You can choose to lose money by getting a crappy government health care plan or pay the $1,500 fine.
