OK, Let's put it out there, shall we? Adrian Peterson is possibly the most talented Running Back in the NFL. Other than that, the Vikings have a good, solid team. They are contenders this year and Favre is definitely a factor.
However, I wish to address the 'best team' situation. At this point in the season the Vikes are 6-1 as were the '96 packers at the same point in time. In 1996, Favre was the best Quarterback in the league (not just my opinion, he won every award going that year). Every football fan, no matter what team they supported had to admit that he played with heart and whenever we watched it was magic. Not to mention the #1 Defense and the #1 Special Teams in the league. Stats like the ones below don’t happen every season. The ’96 Packers were very special.
· Passing Yards: Brett Favre 3,899 Yards
· Passing Touchdowns: Brett FavreBrett Favre 39 TD
· Rushing Yards: Edgar Bennett, 899 Yards
· Rushing Touchdowns: Dorsey Levens, 5 TD
· Receiving Yards: Antonio Freeman, 933 Yards
· Receiving Touchdowns: Keith Jackson, 10 TD
· Points: Chris Jacke, 114 points
· Kickoff Return Yards: Desmond Howard, 460 Yards
· Punt Return Yards: Desmond Howard, 875 Yards
· Tackles: George Koonce, 97 Tackles
· Sacks: Reggie White, 8.5 Sacks
· Interceptions: Eugene Robinson, 6 Interceptions

Also remember that the 1996 season was not like 2009, with a clear delineation of winners and losers. This year each division has a clear winner and a clear loser. In 2009 the wheat and the chaff are very well separated. 1996 was a much more competitive season.
The statements that Favre has made to the press have fans and former Packers feeling a little defensive, if not betrayed. Packer greats like LeRoy Butler and Marc Chimura have spoken out publicly that statement like that are inflammatory and hurtful. They believe that these remarks are uncalled for.
OK, the point is made. Ted ThompsonTed Thompson has egg on his face, Brett Favre can still throw the ball and still make it look fun and easy while he’s doing it. We all understood Favre signing with the Jets. It was a matter of pride. Favre signing with Minnesota feels like something else to Packer fans. When Sunday comes, I don’t expect the faithful at Lambeau to welcome their prodigal son home.
