What Make Them Feel Like Celebrities??

I can't believe what I see everyday. I was going to campus by Angkot (some kind of public transportation in Indonesia). I was so surprised to see students today are different with my generation. They are using make up to school, wearing tight uniform, and many kind of stuff that are not suitable for them. Do they want to be like celebrities??? Poor them. Celebrities get money by wearing weird stuff or something extraordinary. They also got money by humiliated themselves in front of public. But what will students get by being like celebrities? Nothing! They will only get punishment from teachers for their bad attitude. I cannot imagine what will happen to the next generation. I was watching students in Angkot were gossiping about their friends. Students are suppose to study hard for their future. No one reading student book in public transportation. What are they thinking about on the way to school? Popularity?? Let me think what make them become like this.

When I saw documentation about students in the past, they wore uniform properly and they went to school to gain knowledge. What kind of virus that make students turn to be like celebrities??

Beside that, I think students today don't really care about achievements. Students who care about achievements in school become a minority group. Once I saw a girl reading a book entitled '1001 Jurus Backstreet' (1001 Way For Backstreet). It was a book for teen guide. Who the hell that wrote such stupid book? The girl supposed to read a student book for every subject in school. I cannot stand watching this situation everyday. What will happen if in the future I will have children that also will go to school? What kind of environment and friends will she/he get in school??

After a deep thinking, I think the main reason students want to be like celebrities is because of mass media. Everyday, TV shows are full with celebrities and entertainment. TV stations give a minor portion for education and enlightenment. After entertainment, the second big portion is politic. Now I understand why many people in my country like to talk about gossip, entertainment and politic. How can they stop talking such things if everyday they are expose by all those stuff?? We can only hear people talk about education and knowledge if we are in the classroom. After that, people start gossiping about other people life again.
