MOGADISHU, Somalia, Oct. 28
-- Heavy shelling in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, has resulted in at least four deaths and 11 injuries, witnesses said Wednesday.
Shabelle Radio reported that witnesses said the fighting between Islamic rebels and pro-government forces started on a key road that connects Somalia's presidential palace with a military base used by African Union troops supporting the country's transitional government.
The witnesses said that among the four people killed in the shelling were a government officer and a teenager. Three passengers in a mini-bus were wounded at the front gate of the AU base when troops opened fire on the vehicle, the Somali broadcaster said.
Mogadishu health officials said the civilian victims were taken to hospitals. Posted by BiodunIginla at
