My Face or Friend?

I once asked myself, “Which would I choose over everything, my face or my friend?” I can’t decide what to spare, my user-friendly friend or my face that could bring too much entertainment?

Don’t even laugh at my “Face”, I have a level 38 “Pet-Soc”, and don’t criticize my “Friend”, I have 1108 friends!

(Huh? Anong friend and Face?) It’s facebook and friendster!

These two are probably the toppers in the list of the most popular Social Networking sites. However, their ranks sometimes interchange, not one is always the 1st or the 2nd.

Friendster, on the first place, garnered almost all of the attentions of the net-maniacs and surfers around the globe. But now, here comes Facebook, knocking at the door and saying “hi and buh-bye” to friendster. It is hard to compare these two because there are many factors that determine the dominance of one to another:

Features

When it comes to features, Hi-5 to facebook. Its multiple-application ranging from interactive quizzes, games, and chat boxes says it all, compared to friendster’s slow-to-function apps.

One feature of friendster that made lose in this factor is its inaccurate time for notifications of messages, comments, and the likes. Try facebook if you crave for more time accuracy and not-so-bad features.

User-friendliness

All thumbs up for friendster for its user-friendliness. Its icons and buttons are easy to find and read that even the children, as young as 5 years old, can use it. Unlike FS, Facebook consists of interactive buttons that a first-timer would mess with because these buttons are seemingly placed at random and messy places.

User-personality presentation

One point, again, was given to friendster. Remember formulating and designing your own pages with backgrounds, BGM’s and photos? That was a big slap to facebook’s plain white and blue interface in viewing a person’s profile or page. Friendster gives favor to the crafty clicking hands of amateur web designers for its allowance of customization.

Faster page loading

Facebook ties the game with its faster page loading. Unlike FS, Facebook loads only the section that is clicked instead of loading whole page, making it faster to use.

Striking name

According to webupon.com, Friendster is a unique brand name. Hearing the word somewhat rings the bell, that one pronunciation of it already tells that it has something to do with friends, unlike the names, Facebook, Multiply and Myspace which are seemingly self-centered.

These things might help you to decide whether you would stick to facebook or friendster. Or you might use both. But always remember that, it doesn’t matter what social networking site you are signed in, as long as you know how to use it wisely. You must be in charge of these sites and don’t ever let them control you that you become so addicted.

So now, what are you going to choose? Your face or your friend?
