PESHAWAR: The alleged mastermind of the network involved in the recent bomb explosions in Hayatabad and Khyber Bazaar in the city has been arrested, the Frontier Police chief claimed on Tuesday.

Inspector General of Police NWFP Malik Naveed Khan told a private television channel that the leader of the group involved in the two blasts had been arrested. “We are now interrogation the accused,” he said.

However, he didn’t disclose the name of the accused or the group with which he was associated.He said that police had taken elaborate measures to foil sabotage activities in the wake of Waziristan operation.

Malik Naveed said that the security had been tightened in the province and hundreds of militants have been arrested. Heavy arms cache and explosives were also recovered and acts of sabotage and loss to life and property was averted, he added.
