It would seem that the heart of the American people is being shred to pieces. People blame the economy. Perhaps a look inward towards the real rationale for the situation is in order. The proposals are abundant: perhaps its pure economic chaos that befalls the societal structure, or maybe just plain, the Gods are angry. Whichever of these positions at the extreme opposites one takes, the fact remains that the neophyte experience is becoming increasingly difficult to understand, and to a great extent, has de-evolved into a confusing array of emotions that no amount of Prozac can muffle. The noise is so intense, so drastically distracting, that the original cause, a confrontational system, has been forgotten and traded for the more entertaining Jerry SpringerJerry Springer-like accusatory debacles with our immediate circle of influence. When "making money with Google, work from home, get a new car, enlarge your penis, etc" no longer hold our attention, then what is there to consider as an important reason for us to remain anchored to the human subjective experience? Anhedonia, flat affect, and disinterest remain at the core of the activities which are considered as anchors of meaning for daily living. The fact remains, we are still strangers to each other, and more poignantly, to ourselves. We open the new days to come with the possibility of hope, and a change that may be infiltrated in the high-walled compound of our learned hopelessness and misery.
