Bonebone, The Village Without Cigarette

International Forum for Children Welfare (IFCW) will introduce Bonebone, a village in Indonesia, to international world, because dicipline its peoples who do not smoke.


Bonebone located in Enrekang disctric, South Sulawesi province, Indonesia. Village located about 300 kilometers from the Makassar City, capital of South sulawesi.


Government of Enrekang''s PR, Eka Febrianzah said, the campaign is a collaboration between IFCW with Yayasan Keselamatan Anak Indonesia (Indonesian Child Welfare Foundation).


Eka explained, Bonebone be unique because all the villagers were not smoking. Local villagers consider cigarettes as a source of ignorance.


In addition, not only cause health problems, but local villagers also thought smoking causes parents can not afford to send their children.

Besides cigarettes, the village located at the foot of Mount Latimojong It also prohibits the chicken pieces and eggs into their residential areas, because the eggs and chicken pieces are considered as spreaders of disease or avian influenza H5N1 virus.


Eka added, Bonebone Village residents are also famous for its concern for environmental conservation, so that every village to get married
will have to plant trees at least 10 stems.


To get a marriage certificate, the couple must get a recommendation from chief of the local village, who prove that the pair had to fulfill its obligations to plant 10 trees.
