It was Holy Week last April when me and my friends decided to go hiking. Since my girl friend is a local to Cuenca, Batangas, Philippines, we all agreed to climb Mt. Maculot.
We all came from the Philippine capital, Manila and since we have a long Holy Week holiday, we went to our friend's home town, in Cuenca, Batangas. The said province is one of the first town who started the revolution against Spaniards during the invasion of Spain. It is currently under the governance of Vilma Santos-Recto, a famous actress and named as "the Star for all Season" because of her magnificant roel as an actress. She was then married to the then Senator Ralph Recto, a native of Batangas. His clan is famous for being good judges and legistative representative.
We climbed Mt. Maculot for almost 12 hours. The mountain is a bit stiff. Some parts of the mountain has a 45 degrees angle. It's a bit hard to climb for starters like me. Reaching the summit is very worthwhile! We can see the entire province of Batangas, the world famous Taal Volcano, the green pastures, the sea bed of Taal Lake and the fascinating rain forest of the said mountain. Overall, though it's a tough mountain, we managed to conquered it!
