Scene 4 “A Play on Words”
I often sit staring at a word and thinking about its meaning and what other things I could do with the letters that have been used. How many other connecting words are hidden in the main or parent word. With pen and paper in hand I jot down all the other words I can find and try to connect them with the parent word and that is when the fun begins.
Please feel free to add any you can think of, not just to my parent words as I call them, but if you find a good parent word then please share it with us.
ENCYCLOPEDIA
ONE of the most important things a child CAN ever receive is a good education. These days, is attending the local school be it public or private enough? I think not and therefore ONE of the best ways to get a child interested IN what is happening IN the world around them is to introduce them to the wonderful world of the ENCYCLOPEDIA.
A parent NEED not start with the full set of ONE or the other of the famous sets of these books. A simple illustrated children’s edition is enough to get the ball rolling and the interest developing more with PLAY than with DIE-cast rules. PLAN AND keep AN EYE open for what your child seems to PAY more attention to, this is your starting block.
If the child enjoys the outdoors then what about a bit of exercise at the local dam IN a PEDALO (small PEDAL boat). What a NICE way to spend the DAY, the child has not been ALONE, parent AND child have DONE something together AND at the END of the DAY you have both OPENED new doors. ONCE home then get out all the ENCYCLOPEDIAs and start searching for information about what you have spent the DAY doing.
It is not always necessary to POLICE a child when they are starting to study and learn. Set a PACE and begin on the first LINE of the first page. Go slowly to begin with to ensure the child is able to COPE AND please CLAP when they succeed at something new.
PLAN your weekends, take your time and have a cup of TEA or a COLD drink while you make your decisions. Get out PEN and paper, CLIP or PIN things together. Have fun and DO not TOIL over IDEAs, keep in mind that you are CLAY in each others hands.
Always remember not to LOAD a child’s mind with too much information at ONE time, learning CAN be like climbing a POLE, allow them to climb at their own speed, do not draw a LINE anywhere AND LEAD by example, NIPping any bad habits that might start to appear.
Enjoy your DEAR children AND enjoy learning with them for in the END the price you will have PAID will have been worth every cent.
