"Paranormal Activity" has hit No.1 box office spot over the weekend.

The low budget Paramount Pictures film, surprised with estimated US$22 million ticket sales on its fifth weekend release.

It has beaten big budget Imagi Studios's "Astro Boy" and Fox Searchlight's

"Amelia".

The horror flick has now grossed US$62 million in 1,945 locations in the US.

Even popular "Saw VI" in the cash cow Saw series lost to it in movie viewers's

popularity.

Paramount Pictures chairman Brad Grey, apparently delighted over "Paranormal Activity"'s special crowd draw, was reported in the Los Angeles Times as saying: "We all work very hard, and every once in a while you find yourself bumping over a miracle."
