12 Year old Fawziya Arnmodi Youssef, of Sanaa, Yemen was forced to marry a 24 year old man... After 3 days of extremely painful labor and severe bleeding, she and the baby died...

"Early Marriage" is apparently a common practice in Yemen, where pedophiles are allowed to legally "Rape" young girls by simply marrying them. The girls are from poor families who "sell off" their daughters...

It's Ironic that something as disgusting and shameful as this is allowed to exist in a part of the world where the Islamic religion "supposedly" protects the rights of women...

When things like this happen, the rest of the world wonders if the Islamic religion considers a woman to be human or just an animal to be "owned" like livestock ???

Yemen is the worst place to live in the entire world. Enslavement of women is recognized as being good in the Qu'ran and in the al-Bukhari. Discrimination of women should not be tolerated.

Yes whatever is happening in Yemen is wrong. Whatever is happening in America i.e. family abuse is also wrong. Its all signs of decaying society values, exploitation so on and so forth!!!

and isn't this practice condomed by the shura law in yeman and isn't shura law religious law? so how do you seperate the morals from the religion?

Dear Maidiya, i think you are absolutely right at this point that we should only discuss on morals, not on religion. but we should also not quote examples of Europe, America etc because Islam has its own values and laws...therefore if such things happen in muslim countries, we must condemn it......

The simple fact is that these are reflections of a tribal society that uses religion to mask and cover tribal customs and disguise and legitimise them in the name of religion. These are patterns visible in man societies where education and human development remain low and people are not fully incorporated into the state structure.

Religion does not support any of this.However sadly in pakistan in tribal areas and in trhe villages it is the same where they sell of their daughters to men of a much older age and the girls are very young.
