With money comes justice

I am reporting today about a 16 year old girl in Des Moines Iowa. This little girl is sitting in prison and looking at a 25 year sentence. Now some of you may say "If you do the crime you must do the time", but let me ask you this, shouldnt the punishment fit the crime?

Now I am going to give you a little background on how this big old mess started. The little girls name is Natasha, Natasha's mother noticed at a young age Natasha was different from other children she was a genius but she also had problems with her emotions, when she laughed she laughed to loud and to much when she cried she cried to hard and when she was angry she got way to angery. When the schools started noticing the problem her mother was already taking her for help and they put this little girl on one med after anouther untill nobody new anymore what was causing the girl to act the way she was,was it the starting of one new med or the discontinuing of the next.The moods kept going up and down and the anger kept getting worse till one day she kicked her mother in the stomach and she was pregnant, ashamed and scared of her outburst she callled the police on herself. The police took that scared 12 year old that day and her life as she new it never was the same.

When they took her the state got envolved and decided that a treatment center would be best for the child, and her mother had no say in the matter. When she got to the treatment center for the next year and a half they pumped her with drugs and she got to meet many more girls who interduced her to sex and many other things. The treatment center had her on about 9 different meds including lithium when her family called or visited they didnt even reconize there own child and when she spoke it was like her tounge was swollen. After a year and a half they sent her to her mother who was now in columbus Ohio, she was now introducred to sex and was sexually active she would spit out the meds that her mother was told to give her and started self medicating with street drugs. Scared and confused her mother moved the whole family back to Iowa, loooking for some help and support. The state came in again and said they were going to give some help, but she ran and went on to care for herself, still calling her mother everyday and telling her she loved her.

While she was on the run she had fallen in with many undesirables all praying on her vulnerbility. Her mother beged for her to turn herself in but she said only if she could come home and seek help her mother beged the state and they said no, they rather saw her on the street then knowing she was safe at home because it was there way or no way. Well eventually Natashe met up with a very bad crowd they were supplying her drug habit and giving her a place to stay. One night they had told her they wanted to go to Des Moines Iowa to the Drake Realays with them, she did what they requested.When they got there two men picked up Natasha wanting to hire her as a prositute, the men she was with told her go ahead they had something planned again she did as she was told not knowing what was planned and so high she doesnt remember much.While she was in the room the four men she was with came in and they had masks on there face and a sawed off shot gun. They assaulted the men. These two 29 year old men who were trying to hire a prostute then became the victims they rushed and called the police and gave them a description of the vehicle that Natasha and the four men were in.

The police found they vehicle and had the two perverts oops I mean "victims" a police car they pulled the suspects out one buy one and that was there line up. Natasha gave them a fake name, but once they took her fingerprints they new she was 16 and on the missing and exploited list but never bothered to call her mother or the state to let them know they found her or that they questioned her, her mother found out thrue the bailbondsman. She was charged as an adult and given a state defender who only visited her once and never called never even let her know when she would be having court.Natashas family would try to contact the lawyer and had little luck, because Natasha was being tried as an adult nobody had to talk to the family and nobody in the family was owed an explanation. A week before trial Natasha as only spoke to her lawyer one time, they plea bargained with the men that had pimping Natasha and supplying this run away with a place to stay and feeding her drugs, they were to testifie that Natasha 16, was in fact the ring leader that made these grown men come in with masks and a gun and do what they did. Now even though nothing was taken Natasha was being charged with felony robbery in the first, the one time she did get a visit from her lawyer it was to tell her how bad it was going to be in court and how there offering burglary in the first with a 25 year sentence but no minimum, but if she went to court she would prabably get 25 with a 17 and a half year minimum. She went as far as telling Natasha she may get out in a year or two. Well Natasha was a scared child who was forced to make a very adult decision so she signed they plea later finding out that it is not how it was explaned to her.

Now you might ask how I know so much about this case and the history and why this case is so hurtfull to me and its because Natsha is my child, my first born. Now you may say she deserved to get locked up and you're right but what I'm saying shouldn't the punishment fit the crime? If I was rich and could afford a lawyer do you really think things would have had the same turn out and thats not right shouldn't justice be the same for everyone, and when did we start looking out for the pimps and perverts before the children, was this all so a proscuter could make there quota is this how they do it on the people who cant get a proper defense. The next politician that says you should feel safer because they have locked up so many violent criminials you just think how many were poor, runaways, being pimped out and not even wearing a mask or holding a gun.
