Lufkin Industries delays awarded payout to workers
African Americans were awarded over 5 million dollars in back pay by a federal judge. This lawsuit has been ongoing over 12 years. African Americans were passed over for promotions, worked in hot and humid environments. They deserve to be compensated for the unfair treatment they have received from this unscrupulous company for years. The union provided little assistance for the . In one instance, I was discouraged from applying for a position by a union steward. In another instance, another female was sexually harassed by the same union steward. She filed a sexual harassment complaint but Lufkin Industries sided with the union. There was just no justice for the African Americans and there probably never will be. As of date the workers are still waiting to be awarded.
