Onlookers gather at the scene of a train accident south of Cairo

A passenger train collided with the second train ahead of it in the the back on the tracks outside of Cairo,Egypt on Saturday, damaging properties and destroying several passenger cars and killing at least 25 people,police official said.

At least 55 others were injured in the accident, which occurred in Girzah district of 6th of October province, said by the official, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Emergency personnel are working hard to extract the dead bodies and wounded from the trains.

The train that caused the collision was heading to the southern city of Assuit from Cairo, while the other train was traveling from Giza province to the oasis town of Fayoum.

History siad that Egypt has a poor safety record on its railways, and report several fatal accident each year, Caused blamed on poorly maintained tools.

In February 2002 a train is heading to southern Egypt caught fire, killing 363 people.The worst recent disaster in egypt.

    It is so terrible that so many people can be killed so swiftly. It must be hard for workers who have to go there and do a job that no one ever wishes for.
