Article Writing Tips

English is the official language of air traffic, business, and many sites (especially writing) on the internet. English is spoken in many countries including the United States where some people wonder if just what the people are saying.

But for people for whom English is not a native language, it can be one of the hardest languages to learn since English seems to have few rules, a great number of exceptions, and even more exceptions to the exceptions.

However, when it comes to writing there are a few basic rules that will make the article much easier to read and understand for everyone. Articles written so that everyone can understand them will also get more page views.

1. Use plain text saving the bold and all caps for special instances or emphasis.

2.Avoid using text language; not everyone can understand the lingo.

3. Check ALL spelling, even for simple words like you instead of u. Every computer has a spell checker (including All Voices) that can check for English spellings (English and American English).

4.English syntax can be a bit tricky but generally Subject, verb, direct object, indirect object works fairly well. If English is not a familiar language read the article out loud; if it sounds odd then edit it or ask for help. People will not struggle through a badly written article even if it is on an interesting subject.

5. Don't write the entire article in one paragraph, it makes for a very difficult read. Break things up starting a new paragraph for each separate thought.

One of the first things instructors tell their students in journalism classes is to write what you know. Do your homework (research) is another.

All Voices stresses for writers to post original articles. When writing an article use more than one source and use your own words; find additional pieces of information to add to the article.

A picture may say a thousand words, but a well written and easy to understand article can say even more.
