Swine flu deaths were reported in several European countries this ...

As I am sure you all know President Obama has declared Swine Flu a National Emergency and I don't know about you but I really think they are blowing this out of proportion, but before you exit and ignore me let me explain:

First off the record the Regular Flu has killed far more people then Swine Flu, so why have we not declared that a National emergency; the only thing that makes any sense is that they want to force everyone to take it and why??

Let me tell you what I think, first off there is a plan to kill of half the population as to lower costs or the Government just wants more control over America. I think the second more probable...for now.

Since President Obama has declared it a National Emergency, a question comes to mind.

Will there be Martial Law?

We shall see!

    You're taking it a bit overboard and jumping to some wrong extreme conclusions. The threat of this flu is quite serious, and the government is making a strong effort to protect the citizens. You can't stress the importance of following through with the preventative methods regularly and being cautious. There have already been so many unnecessary deaths.

    There are more dangers than the normal flu - like the pick up of a bacterial infection. I agree with you however, in thinking it's gone a little too far.. BUT, that said - having three small children makes the swine flu a bit more frightening to me.

    I worry about the vaccination as well. Although I get the regular flu shot for my children each year, I worry about this new one. I personally worry about its safety and don't want my children to be the test subjects.

    If it becomes mandatory - it will elevate my concerns dramatically ....especially living in Massachusetts where martial law is certainly possible as well as many other "things" should a health emergency be declared within the State.

    For now, adding the national threat level - might not be so bad. It allows doctors to work over State lines if they need to help and allows for a slight loosening of the HIPPA laws.

    We will need to wait and see. These are scary times.

    Do not be afraid! Fear will merely attract these scenarios to you. Rather read up on the internet what Dr Joseph Mercola, a highly respected member of the medical profession, has to say about the swine flu. I have in my previous comment pasted the link.

    I have mixed feelings about declaring this a National emergency. While it is always better to err on the side of being too cautious, I think it is a little premature. I still would like to see a photo op with the president, his wife and two daughters all taking the Swine Flu shot. The fact that there are maufacturing issues and the total number of doses promised are no where ready can create a panic situation. I would have been more at ease if we had plenty of the shot to go around for everyone before making this statement.

    The fact that 10% of the vaccines produced will be shipped out to other countries is also a little troubling. can we at least provide the vaccine to everyone here first and if there are any leftover, than send them to other countries..

    I aggree with W4L, the only way I will get the vaccine is if it becomes mandatory..Until them, I will make do with regulare flu shot..

    i agree its all over hyped. i had a regular flu shot and been around 2 cases of swine flu and yet i have not caught it
