Cheney ripped by retired general

Dick Cheney

Uh, Dick? Could you please go back to that undisclosed location where you spent most of your time for the last seven years of the Bush administration.?

Or barring that, would you please just put a sock in it?

For seven years, Dick Cheney played Gary Cooper -- strong, silent and a little scary. He was hardly ever available to be quoted.

Now he has turned into Gabby Hayes. He's running around looking for microphones, giving his opinion even when no one asks for it.

Wednesday he attended some sort of Bush administration reunion, and he made a speech in which he accused President Barack Obama of "dithering" in Afghanistan.

Of course he failed to mention how badly his team botched the war in Afghanistan, which was the one war most Americans agreed we should be fighting. He fails to mention how we had Osama bin Laden trapped at Tora Bora in December 2001 and allowed him to get away.

Retired General Paul Eaton, senior adviser to the National Security Network, has hit back hard at Cheney Thursday in an NSN press release.

"The record is clear: Dick Cheney and the Bush administration were incompetent war fighters. They ignored Afghanistan for 7 years with a crude approach to counter-insurgency warfare best illustrated by: 1. Deny it. 2. Ignore it. 3. Bomb it. While our intelligence agencies called the region the greatest threat to America, the Bush White House under-resourced our military efforts, shifted attention to Iraq, and failed to bring to justice the masterminds of September 11.

"The only time Cheney and his cabal of foreign policy 'experts' have anything to say is when they feel compelled to protect this failed legacy. While President Obama is tasked with cleaning up the considerable mess they left behind, they continue to defend torture or rewrite a legacy of indifference on Afghanistan. Simply put, Mr. Cheney sees history throughout extremely myopic and partisan eyes."

Amen.

Dick, shut up.

"Bush Administration Reunion"? That's a reunion you probably don't want to show up to. Cheney does seem like he's going a bit overboard with the speeches. He's on a mic more than Ryan Seacrest these days. That can't be a good sign. He already served his term. Now, it's time to let the new administration do it's job.

Retired General Paul Eaton is a mere mouth piece for the WH. On the one War Americans agree we should be fighting, The President has decided to play politics with and put at risk the lives of thousands of Amerircan Soldiers. It has been 2 months since General McChrystal mad it known that he needed at minimum 40K additional troops and since that time, close to a hundred soldiers have lost their lives.

Anyone who has a daughter or son in the military should be concerned about this administration and their willful disregard for the safety our troops.

When Dick Cheney speaks, it is for a reason and that is out of genuine concern. The Presdient's approval numbers seem to be more important than taking orders from Generals.
