Results of Indian assembly elections

The Assembly elections in Maharashtra have made the Congress party several times stronger and has helped it retain its power. Obviously, the credit should go to Rahul Gandhi, its dynamic General Secretary. He is the new and emerging face of a rejuvenated party and his unconventional attitude has had its effects on the younger generation. The BJP-Shiv Sena combine were left helpless spectators. The Shiv Sena, in fact, received a terrible jolt in the form of the breakaway group of Raj Thackeray – his Maharashtra Nabanirman Sena (MNS) not just nibbled but ate into the traditional Shiv Sena vote bank and the patriarch Bal Thackeray must have realized that his calculations have gone awry. The new face of a leader of Maharashtra, who has the well-being of the locals uppermost in mind, has arrived in the form of Raj Thackeray – the nephew of Bal Thackeray.
