Earlier this year Glenn Beck, a Fox News anchorman, called President Obama a racist, and said that he has a “deep-seated hatred for white people”.
Following the controversial statement, Color of Change, a organization that advocates, among other things, racial equality and sensitivity on television, started a boycotting campaign against the Glenn Beck show.
The campaign has been very successful so far. To date, Color of Change has convinced 80 advertisers to stop sponsoring the Glenn Beck show on Fox News.
Some of the advertisers have stopped sponsoring Fox News all together.
Some have stopped sponsoring them in Europe.
The 19 companies that are still advertising on Beck’s show, on his ever paranoid war path, are as followed:
· Rosland Capital
· National Review
· Merit Financial
· Explore Branson
· Dish Network
· Americans Against Food Taxes
· Tax Masters
· Weekly Standard
· Goldline International
· TeaPartyExpress.org
· Lear Capital
· ZeroWater
· National Geographic
· Superior Gold Group
· IRStaxagreements.com
· Rosland Capital
· Lifestyle Lift
Most of the sponsors remaining are people or groups that profit from the scare tactics and conspiracy theories that Goodman Beck spews daily.
“Gold into Cash” companies make a lot of money from paranoid people.
Other sponsors are organization and lobbyists for tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy.
And other sponsors are right-wing news organizations, like the National Review and the Weekly Standard.
National Geographic is owned by Rupert Murdoch, the owner of Fox News and Goodman Beck’s show.
After the start of the boycott organized by Color of Change, Goodman Beck targeted his witch hunt at Van Jones, the founder of Color of Change that had a position in the Obama White House as someone in charge of getting the private industry connected with government programs and other private companies interested in “green” jobs and technology.
Primarily for things he said over a decade ago and for signing the 9/11 “truther” petition.
Van Jones no longer works with the Obama White House, which makes him more dangerous to the likes of Beck and Fox News, than when he was a part of the White House.
More recently Goodman Beck’s witch hunt has pointed its cross hairs at Anita Dunn, the White House Communications Director. She has recently criticized Fox News’ tactics and opinions.
She is now being called a Maoist by Goodman Beck. She will be out of office by the end of the year.
