Drove 23 Kilometer, Killed and Assaulted In-Laws While Asleep.

In the midst of deep slumber, our mind may wander beyond the realm of reality. We call it dream . Our physical body may be still and safe in the comforts of our bed but dream takes our minds to the different heights of our consciousness. However, is it only our mind that dream could influence? Can dreaming influence our physical body to move and commit things we are totally unaware of?

A young man surrendered himself to the police with the statement “ I may have slain someone”, noting further the condition of his hand which was deeply cut to the point that it affected the flexor tendons of both of his hands. It turned out that he drove 23 kilometer from his residence to his in-laws’ house. He stabbed his mother-in-law to death and assaulted his father-in-law. Both of whom he respected and dearly loved. In fact, his in laws call him “a gentle giant”.

He could not remember the murder nor the assault. On top of this, he does not have any motive. Psychologist, a neurologist and sleep specialist diagnosed that Mr. Parks was “asleep” when he committed these crime. Hence, he had no control nor even a memory of his own action.

I can see someone doing that in their sleep to someone in their home, but being able to walk out to a car stick a key in the ignition back it out of the drivway and drive somewhere with out hitting anyone and entering someone else's home all while sleeping is pretty unbelievable. Quite remarkable if you ask me. Good reporting.

Hello ladym33. I agree. Pretty unbelievable. In fact, quite hard to support with logic. But then, we are not experts in the field. Experts supported such theory that caused the acquittal of Mr. Parks from the case charged against him in the supreme court.

how could psychologists and neurosurgeons know he was asleep at the time of the murders? that seems impossible. i think the man may have had a serious dissociative disorder like Fugue, or dissociative identity disorder. and there was definitely a motive, even if he doesn't know what it is.

hello tie_dye_hippie_chick. psychologists and neurosurgeons were actually stated and as to how they know that Mr. Parks was really sleeping at the commencement of the crime, only the experts could give the explanation to that. I do agree that dissociative disorder or identity disorder is very likely. But then, only those who have a direct access to this case could really give the most likely reasoning for this odd incident. Thank you for reading and your comment as well.

It is possible, don't ask me to explain it because I can't. I do know that
it is possible to do because if you read Believe It Or Not True Ghost Stories, lot of these things are true mysteries you will see it can be done. One man once went to his psychiatrist and told him he was afraid to
sleep because monsters or space aliens come trying to kill him. He went to
sleep in the surgery, when the psychiatrist saw a monster lurking there he
took his pistol and shot it. The monster vanished and in its place was his dead patient. The psychiatrist than realised that his patient was having visible dreams, that actual monsters or aliens appeared from thin air while the person was sleeping. The man's sleep had controll of
him that could not be explained. I believe it to be a similar case here. 23/10/2009.

Hello mllovic. In a world where every thing can be explained by logic and science, sometimes we deny veracity for those that can not be explained by human intelligence. I used to be like that. In fact, on certain incidents, still am. Thank you for your comment and you cited a very intriguing and compelling example .

omg this is tragic! i wonder whats going to happen to him now, i mean he is still a danger since he has no control over what he is doing while he is asleep! i don't think it makes him innocent either!

Hello Mona37. I do agree that this incident is tragic. Mr. Parks had been acquitted from the case filed charged against him in the Supreme Court. Community where he belonged has the same concern as yours. It is not stated but hopefully, he is getting help to overcome this predicament of his. Thank you for reading and for your comment.

I wonder what his exacting oneiric experiences were that night. Maybe someday we will be able to film our dreams.

I think the guy should be let off, if it can be proved he was sleeping.

I remember hearing about some law we have in the states that allows for any action within 30 seconds of awaking from sleep. I heard about the law from a truck driver who punched a cop after being roused from sleep. He stated that he couldn't be sentenced because of the law. I can't validate the story, but I think such a law merits existence.

Weather he was asleep or not there was a murder committed and as such he should not be allowed to walk the streets, I am not sure jail is the right place but he needs to be behind a locked door when he sleeps that is for sure....
