Terrorist Attack on US Mall Thwarted

Washington : DC : USA | about 1 month ago

With the issue of an ongoing war against the Taliban taking the main attention of US armed forces, it seems as if the threat of an attack within the US borders could be just on the horizon. However, despite these looming threats, FBI agents as well as local Massachusetts’s police thwarted Tarek Mehanna, attempt to provide material support to terrorists as well as numerous other crimes.

After napping this terrorist supporter, the FBI did a little digging and what it found was quite astonishing. When looking into Tarek’s background they found that this criminal took a length trip overseas to countries such as Pakistan, Iraq, Syria and Yemen actively looking to receive training from Taliban forces. While explaining his reasoning for seeking Taliban training, he explained he hoped to kill US soldiers fighting the war in Iraq as well as kill some of the members of the American executive branch of government if he was lucky enough.

However, what comes off as most surprising to onlookers is that this is not Tarek’s first encounter with FBI officials as it is documented that he was accused of lying to FBI agents last year in a different terrorist investigation. This release of a potential dangerous suspect begs the questioning of why in the world they would allow an active participant in Taliban and terrorist training to openly walk the streets of America without close surveillance.

Mr. Mehanna along with other constituents diverted from their military attack agenda and planned a job on a mall that was left unnamed. However, they were never able to pull of the job because they were unable to get their hands on the assault weapons they deserved to complete the mission. From what FBI agents got during an interrogation, the plan seemed well thought out and organized, but thank goodness American forces were able to get to this man before any innocent lives were lost.

The guy obviously has some serious issues. Safety is a top priority, and it's shocking that someone with such an alarming history and destructive plans is roaming the streets freely. Glad that they captured him before any damage could be done.

@mona: Yes that will help thwart their future plans, and also shake their foundations, in terms of their exposed terror tactics.
